I’ve made to the top. It may only be the 7th Floor of the Crown Plaza, but it’s still the top for me at South by Southwest.
What follows is totally bragging, as you’ll read.
After the first showcase at Shotguns on 6th, I ran into Rodney Pyeatt, one of Texas’s most important guitar players. We did some studio work that’s still on the radio every week and always got along well on the road.
Rodney played lead guitar for Stoney LaRue off and on for many years. Before that, he played with many people, including Selina. No, not Selina Gomez. THE Selina. It’s okay to think of her as portrayed by Jennifer Lopez.
The coolest part was when I got off stage, he bought me a beer. To me, that’s another top.
Earlier today, on our way to the rodeo show, I found out we were going on after Zane Williams. This was a game changer.
Zane has been killin it with his recent singles. His live show was great, too, with an amazing fiddle player from Lewisville.
We finished the week off with a showcase at the Trophy Club. There was some connection to the network show Nashville. Not sure to what extent. Probably false
It was a good week. Reconnected with some old friends and learned more about what my future could hold.
