Film For The Family

We decided on a movie grill with the kids instead of the Dallas aquarium. It was about ten minutes into Big Hero Six when I realized that it was our first time in the theater as a family.

The boys did well. It was nice to eat and watch with happy kiddos. It was also nice to be Grampy’s treat. Good times to finish the year.

My Deaf Dog

My dog, Sammy, is deaf. He and I have developed a way to communicate that works well. It didn’t happen all at once, though. It took some frustration, some tempers flaring, which he couldn’t hear, and some elbow grease to scrub the pee spots from the carpet, often trailed all down the stairs. He had his own signature, I guess.

Sammy is teaching me about choosing words and non-words to communicate effectively. What I thought at first was a problem became an opportunity to try some new things to be a better care giver, to be his friend.

The King Lives

This is the Fat Elvis. It’s Nutella, peanut butter, bacon, fluff, and banana on triple toast. Don’t forget milk. This is not recommended for those concerned about health. Actually, I probably won’t eat one ever again, even though it was amazing.

Summer Movie Series: Lego Movie

Movie night at the Cinq-Mars residence.

Knuckle Sandwich (and the Bear)

Michael beat Andrew to the bear. Andrew offered a knuckle sandwich before following through with a flap jack to the dome. Michael probably deserved it at this point. Andrew had enough.

Unnatural Causes

South Lakes Park in Denton is trying to fix the polluted storm run off problem. What can you do to help the fish?

ABC Mice

Michael likes ABC Mouse, so far. I especially like the variety activities and achievement tracking.

Heroes and Villains?

The opposite of a hero is not a villain. It’s a bystander.

Matt Dunn: Waters Creek

Had a good time yesterday playing to a sedate crowd. The kids had a blast. Matt filled the stage with kids, who sang better than the parents.

IB Retreat 2014

Had a great time at the IB retreat. That tree was awesome. It was an oak about as wide as a Volkswagon.

Men Wear the Pants, Women do the Laundry

I’ve been married 7 years, now, and I’ve learned nothing new since Sovik told me straight: “Women are always right.” No. Don’t even think for a second guys that we get our way on our own. They enable it.

They do this so they can control us. And we let them. Why wouldn’t we? You’ll never hear me say anything bad about being married to the right person. And you’ll know when it’s the right person because you will need to have her in your life like you need to breathe air and drink water (and beer).

For me, her name is Karen. She keeps me clean and lets me wear the pants.

The Urban Cowboy Johnny Lee. Great time. Opened for him with Matt Dunn tonight and back in March with Clay Thrash.
